Who are we?
James Homes is a family-owned and operated company based in beautiful Prince Edward County. Our roots date back to 1980, when founder Garry Pennock established Jathem Development Limited (JDL), a company known for high-end renovations, new residential builds, and commercial construction across Ontario. The name “Jathem” was created by combining the names of Garry’s two sons, Jansen and Matthew.
Fast forward 45 years, and Jathem Homes is now proudly owned and operated by the youngest son, Matthew Pennock. Over the years, the company has delivered a wide range of successful projects including custom homes, student residences, condominium developments, and major commercial renovations.
Today, Jathem Homes specializes in custom new home builds and is a HCRA licensed builder backed by Tarion warranty. We bring deep experience in both modern and traditional styles—from post & beam and timber frame construction to contemporary design. We are also certified in ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) foundations and work closely with local trades to turn your ideas into reality.
In addition to private builds, we have worked closely with Linwood Homes over the past four years to manage their projects in Prince Edward County for the Princess Margaret Lottery Corporation. Whether you’re building a new home, planning a renovation, or exploring an addition, we bring clarity, skill, and craftsmanship to every project.
We don’t believe in cookie-cutter construction. Every home we build is one-of-a-kind, shaped by the land it’s on and the people who will live in it.
